The AI that runs
robots that wrap,
install & service

vehicles.

AutoWrap AI® is the software platform that controls robotic platforms — humanoids, articulated arms, gantries and mobile units — for paint protection film, vinyl wrap, ceramic coating, window film, starlight LED headliner installation, and full autonomous vehicle service. Thirty-four recorded simulations show the claimed sequences running.

Every clip captions the stage it is executing, the patent that stage illustrates, and what it means in plain terms. Filterable by patent, so you can watch only the one you are evaluating. These are physics simulations, watermarked as such — not footage of a real robot.

Whole vehicle
A car on rails, not a panel on a stand
The arm travels the length of the vehicle on a rail, holding standoff with the carriage rather than the arm. The treated area grows along the flank pass by pass.
Whole floor
Four humanoids, one service centre
Check-in, diagnostics, repair and logistics around one vehicle inside a marked zone, with a human supervisor — customer arrival through to payment and handover.
Unfamiliar work
It practises on a copy first
Faced with a part it has not handled, it builds a digital twin, pulls the procedure, rehearses on a generated copy, and only then touches the customer’s car.
When it goes wrong
Link drops, tool fails, path blocked
Three interruptions in one job. On-device AI carries the work without connectivity, the tool is replaced, the path re-plans. Human calls: zero.

A note on terminology

The claims name these operations: PPF application, vinyl wrapping, ceramic coating, window tint, custom graphic and decal application. The same materials are sold under many other names — paint protection film, paint film, clear bra, surface protection film, wrap film, solar-control and safety film — and naming varies by region and by manufacturer. If a product is an adhesive film applied from a release liner, or a coating applied to a vehicle, watercraft or building surface, the question is which of the claim’s terms it falls under, not which trade name it is sold as. That is a claim-construction question to be settled with counsel on the specific product; nothing on this page decides it.

Product Modules

Three modules.
One platform.

License the AutoWrap AI platform by module — surface treatment, LED installation, or full service centre automation. Each module is backed by its own issued U.S. patent and runs on commercially available robotic platforms.

SURFACE
US 12,643,243 B1 · 10 claims
PPF · Vinyl Wrap · Ceramic Coating · Window Tint · Custom Graphics · Decals

AI-driven software that controls robotic platforms to apply paint protection film, vinyl wraps, ceramic coatings, window tint, custom graphics and decals on vehicles, watercraft and building glazing — with real-time 3D surface mapping, automated defect detection and self-correcting application. No proprietary hardware required.

Real-time 3D surface scan — stereo cameras and laser grid projectors map contours and panel edges before first tool contact
Automated multi-tool switching mid-process, including controllable heat-gun end effectors, heated spatula and knifeless trim
Integrated sensors detect bubbles, wrinkles and coating imperfections, and the system adjusts application parameters in response
Learns technique from expert human demonstration, mapped onto the robot’s joints by imitation learning and motion capture
Dedicated routine for vehicle mirror assemblies — micro-contour segmentation and adaptive stretch per zone
Runs on articulated arms, gantries, mobile platforms and humanoids; the specification names third-party humanoid platforms as compatible examples

LIGHTS
US 12,649,240 B1 · 15 claims
Starlight Headliners · Underglow · Headlight / Taillight Service

Autonomous installation and servicing of vehicle lighting — starlight LED fibre-optic headliners, exterior underglow, and functional lighting. This patent contains the portfolio’s only ordered method claim: scan, plan, transport and prepare, install, route and verify wiring, then quality-control and correct.

3D interior scan generates the headliner geometry and fibre-optic insertion map before any material contact
End-effectors for fibre-optic manipulation, trim removal, wiring tools and lens-restoration polishing, selected and maintained autonomously
Sensors monitor placement, tension, LED alignment, beam pattern and wiring integrity
Beam aim measured against an acceptance box and corrected, then verified through the vehicle’s own diagnostic interface
Operates without continuous internet connectivity via on-device AI, and recovers autonomously from obstructions and minor tool malfunctions
On-site mobile deployment — fixed facilities and customer premises are both recited

SERVICE
US 12,511,598 B1 · 20 claims
Full Service Centre Automation · Diagnostics · Fleet Management

The autonomous vehicle service centre control layer. A centralised AI module orchestrates a fleet of humanoid robots across service centre functions — customer check-in, multi-modal diagnostics including EV and software-defined vehicles from model year 2005 onwards, repair, parts logistics, premises upkeep and customer communication.

Humanoid roles are recited by name: customer check-in, payment, diagnostics, physical repair, logistics, outdoor maintenance and security monitoring
Multi-modal sensor data and vehicle diagnostics feed explainable-AI (XAI) repair strategies, not just a fault code
One service plan dispatched across humanoids with dynamically assigned roles, and a digital twin of both vehicle and centre kept current
Robot operation constrained to user-defined geospatial boundaries; offline or malfunctioning units trigger task re-allocation
Humanoids drive vehicles into the bay, connect and disconnect EV charging, and schedule charge against grid demand and pricing
Multi-humanoid collaboration with joint manipulation, human-robot cooperation and AR-assisted human oversight

How It Works

From vehicle arrival to handover

These five stages follow the process diagram in the patents themselves. The platform controls the robot through each one. No custom hardware, and technique can be taught by demonstration rather than specified in code.

01
📡
3D Surface Scan

Stereo cameras and laser grid projectors scan the vehicle. The AI generates a high-resolution digital surface model — contours, curves, panel edges, component locations.

02
🧠
Plan Retrieved & Set

The platform retrieves the template and job set for that vehicle, then defines tool paths, material handling and the operation sequence.

03
🤖
Tool Selected & Executed

Tool heads are selected from the magazine mid-process and the sequence runs — application, heat control, tension, dexterous manipulation.

04
🔍
Defects Detected & Corrected

Integrated sensors detect bubbles, wrinkles and coating imperfections. The AI initiates corrective action itself, adjusting parameters in response.

05
📋
Inspected & Logged

Final inspection and data logging. Parameters and defect analysis are written to a central database so every other unit improves from the job.

Licensing

What you would actually
be licensing.

The portfolio is four issued patents covering different ground. Licensees do not take the whole portfolio and they do not take a general-purpose product. A licence is granted for a defined field of use, and the control software is configured for the surfaces, tooling, platforms and cycle times of that field.

1 · Field of use
The application you are licensed to practise

Automotive glazing and interlayers, vehicle exterior film and coatings, vehicle lighting and interiors, EV service and charging, architectural glazing, or marine. The field determines which of the four patents and which control modules are in scope.

2 · Territory and exclusivity
Where, and how exclusively

Worldwide or by region, and exclusive, co-exclusive or non-exclusive within the field. Because the fields do not overlap, a licence in one does not foreclose the others.

3 · Configured deliverable
The modules that field actually needs

Tailored to your process — not a general release that would let a licensee operate outside the field they paid for. Scope, term and support are set per agreement.

Scope, pricing and terms are set per agreement. Nothing on this page is an offer, a licence, or legal advice. The full issued portfolio, claim detail and assignee record are published on autowraprobotics.com.
